Five Months Old

Dear Rose,
Can it be that you are 5 months old already? It is amazing. You are like a real baby. A REAL BABY. Not that you weren't before. But now? Now, you are chubby and cute and engaging and interacting with everyone. We went to the farmer's market a couple of weekends ago and EVERYONE was like "oh, what a cute baby!" and Dad and I were like, "oh, we know. We made this wonderful baby."

Speaking of which, we are becoming regulars at the farmer's market, thanks to your wakefulness. Dad and I actually love going to the market with you - we usually wear you in the front pack and you love taking it all in.

This month was also the month that you acquired many new toys! You got an exersaucer (you really like the part where you pound on the keys and they make various noises.) You are suppose to be able to walk around the saucer, but you are a little short, so your toes reach the ground and you wiggle your feet.

You also discovered Mama's iPhone and the fun apps that she has. There is one app you particularly enjoy - it is a rubber ducky and when you tap it (or, in your case, smash your palm against the screen) it squeaks! You are fascinated by it.

You found your thumb this month too and boy oh boy does that taste goooooood. So gooooood. You smush it into your mouth and suck on it and chew on it and just drool all over it. If we have to move your hand for some reason (like to take your onesie off) you get a little distressed - wanting your thumb back! SO CUTE.

We celebrated Dad's first Father's Day. It was a little bittersweet for Papa, since it was his first father's day without his Dad. But we spoiled him, very well. We gave him a blu-ray player and a tie with your picture all over it! We also took him out for brunch at Manny's, so he could have some steak. I think you did a good job giving your Dad a nice day! We also got to see Grandpa Barry and spent some time with Aunt Sarah, Aunt Katie, and Uncle Joe.

OH! I almost forgot! You are learning to sit up by yourself! You are at the point where you can hold yourself steady for a few moments before you wobble and do a little face plant. You are obviously wanting to move, but not quite sure how to get that body to where you want to go - yet. You have a little gleam in your eye - you have plans, Rose. Big plans.

Summer has started, Rose and it seems like a whole new chapter has begun. We are excited to share more of this world with you. You are a true joy, a bundle of wiggles, of excitement and a little drool. We love you so much and look forward to every day with you.

All my love,
Mama

First Bites

Dear Rose,
Today you ate your first bites of cereal. You were watching me eat some crackers and opened up your mouth like a big bird. So we mixed up some cereal and you wiggled with excitement as I brought the spoon to your wide open mouth. You gobbled it up, and then let it dribble out of the sides of your mouth. You loved it, it was so good! Imagine how tasty it will be when you keep it all in your mouth! Yuuuum, rice cereal!
Love, Mama
